Storyboard for my graduation project

Sorry about late and a long post, but I've been busy with my graduation project. It should prove a very fun but a challenging surrealistic animation to make. But this is gonna take time, since I had to overhaul the whole project and start from scratch, cause my story wasn't compelling enough. Well at least I've learned a lot. These are gonna be some busy weeks.

The Crow

Another birthday, another friend tranformed. And 'çause it's also Halloween and I was watching "The Crow",( the first one), I've decided to transform that friend into The Crow with a bit of a surrealistic feel to it. A bit of backstry: The Crow was a comicbook about a murdered musician, Eric Draven  comic back to life  with the help of a supernatural crow to take vengeance on the tugs who murdered his girlfriend.

The Crow was then filmed, with Brandon Lee  in the lead role as Eric Draven. It was also his last role,as he died a tragic death. In one scene the group of thugs shoot Eric, but the bullets used in this scense weren't blanks. A veru tragic end to a legend.

Also a shout out for Sunmoondragoness for helping me out with tips! Chek her blog  at: http://creationsofeve.blogspot.nl/ and her deviantart page: http://sunmoondragoness.deviantart.com/.
Happy Halloween everyone!

2001: A Space Odyssey

Diving deeper into Science fiction and Surrealims, I've found the scene below, represents the hybrid  of two. This scene is from Stanley Kubrick's : "2001: A Space Odyssey" The visuals are just mind blowing. Very Inspirational!

Character

So I'm still busy with my exam project. After viewing my first concept animation my teacher gave mesome useful feedback. First of all I had to redesign my character and give him more.....character :P. My first robot was too "blend". But my promoter liked the idea of my character resembling a nomad in the desert, so I'm sticking with it. For my second sketch I drew a lot of inspiration from  the "Curiosity" design. Below, you'll find my first concept rendered in Photoshop and Illustrator. Itook a little old -school approach for my new concept . For now it's just some pencil drawings from my sketchbook. More will be coming soon!

Right now I 'm busy writing a paper on Surrealism and Sciencefiction and collecting some inspirational pictures for my end project. Below, you'll find some inspirational results of this ongoing search (including a documentary on sciencefiction with none other than sir Ridley Scott).

Another experiment in making more surreal digital illustration.
Basic sketch was made in my notebook using wacom inkling, then imported into Photoshop. I wanted a more gritier look than my last one, while maintaining the colors and contrast. I tried to combine, graffiti , a painting and a comic into one. I can see this being on a wall or on cover of a cd or a skateboard.
Background brushes are downloaded from fudgegraphics.com.

Desire

I'm lucky enough to be a subscriber of Photoshop magazine, which consists of some amazing tutorials. Also I've got my hands on Wacom Inkling a few weeks ago, What you see above is a result of the two combined. i love the idea of wacom inkling being able to import your sketch direct to Photoshop or Illustrator, but what frustrates me sometimes,  is that  all of my lines are getting registered. Sometimes during import i still have to draw lines in Photshop and move some of them into the right position. Still i kinda love the device and it's faster than scanning your sketch. Also thumps up for Photoshop Magazine- crew!! An amazing way to learn some new tricks and to get inspiration!
